New Streuböden lift officially opened!
The new Streuböden cable car was recently officially opened in glorious sunshine and a festive atmosphere. Around 200 invited guests, including shareholders, landowners, project partners and representatives of the cable cars in the Skicircus & ALPIN CARD network, celebrated the inauguration of the lift, which is the next milestone in the development of Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn.
The celebrations began with a joint ascent to the new mountain station on the Lärchfilzkogel, harmoniously integrated into the landscape, where the official opening ceremony took place. In their speeches, the management of Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn emphasised the central importance of this project for the further development of the ski area. Provincial councillor Katrin Brugger and Fieberbrunn's mayor Walter Astner also praised the successful project and the sense of community that made the realisation of this prestigious project possible. The ceremonial highlight was the blessing of the new Streuböden cable car by priest Christoph Eder.
Highlights of the new Streuböden lift
The new Streuböden lift developed by Doppelmayr brings state-of-the-art ropeway technology to the Fieberbrunn ski resort. It sets new standards with its capacity, speed and design:
- Maximum capacity: the lift can transport up to 2,500 people per hour - more than twice as many as its predecessor. This increase in capacity significantly reduces waiting times, even at peak times during the ski season.
- Speed: The lift reaches an impressive transport speed of max. 6 metres per second, which enables a particularly fast ascent to the Lärchfilzkogel. The journey time is therefore only a few minutes.
- Cabin comfort: The 91 Omega V cabins offer space for 10 people each. The cabins impress with their generous panoramic glazing and ergonomic seats. The striking Ferrari red design also ensures an unmistakable recognition value - and speaking of recognition value: the new Streuböden cable car also emphasises the company's values with its own Pride gondola.
- Ropeway technology: The state-of-the-art drive technology from Doppelmayr ensures particularly quiet and efficient operation.
- Station design: The valley and mountain stations are equipped with the iconic Doppelmayr station cabins. The wooden shingle facade gives the buildings a modern yet natural appearance that blends harmoniously into the alpine surroundings.
Community project with crowdfunding success
Fieberbrunn is particularly proud of the broad support from the local community. Over 200 supporters contributed around 600,000 euros as part of a crowdfunding campaign. This community spirit gave the prestigious project a special dynamic and shows how strongly people identify with the ski resort. As a thank you, the crowdfunders were given the very first ride on the new Streuböden cable car.
Pioneering infrastructure for beginners and children
In addition to the new Streuböden cable car, the Zillstatt T-bar lift has also been modernised. A level access area ensures easier access, while the stepless drive makes it much easier for children and beginners to learn how to use the lift. There is also a new, publicly accessible conveyor belt for children at the Streuböden middle station.
Fit for the 2025 World Ski Championships
The Streuböden cable car will also play a central role at the World Ski Championships in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn (4-16 February 2025). It will provide a fast and convenient connection to the race courses and the finish stadium.
A look into the future
The opening of the new Streuböden lift marks the start of a promising new era for Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn. The innovative technology, increased comfort and support from the region are setting standards for the future of winter sports. ‘We are looking forward to being able to offer all guests an even better mountain experience from now on,’ summarised Managing Director Martin Trixl at the end of the event.
Bergbahnen Fieberbrunn would like to thank all shareholders, landowners, employees and project partners who have made this pioneering project possible.
