Fieberbrunn - Jakobskreuz

The Buchensteinwand is also known as the most beautiful panoramic mountain in the PillerseeTal, and rightly so: the Loferer und Leoganger Steinberge seem close enough to touch, the Wilder Kaiser radiates in all its glory and the snowcapped peaks of the Großglockner shine in the distance. On the summit of the Buchensteinwand, the 30-metre-high Jakobskreuz is waiting to be discovered by you. From the panoramic platform you have a breathtaking view of the PillerseeTal and the surrounding mountain scenery of the Kitzbühel Alps. The Jakobskreuz is equipped with a lift, so that people with disabilities, elderly people or families with pushchairs can also enjoy the view.

The summit of the Buchensteinwand can be hiked to from three different sides. The ascent from Fieberbrunn begins in the village centre, walking east to the Horngacher butcher's shop. Cross the stream there and turn left towards the hamlet of Schönau - Pertrach / Tennalm. Follow the asphalt road uphill, pass under the railway line and turn right at the next junction towards Tennalm. Follow the trail to the alpine pasture, in the left-hand bend before the Tennalm, the hiking trail leads straight up towards the Buchensteinwand. First in the forest, then along the ski slope, it is a very direct climb up to the summit of the Buchensteinwand and the Jakobskreuz. Return via the same route or via one of the alternative routes into the valley and with the free Regiobus back to the starting point.
